18th February 2012.
CENTRAL BAND OF THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE.
PICNIC IN THE PARK.
RNZAF 75TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR.

To celebrate its 75th Anniversary the Central Band of the RNZAF will tour across the centre of the North Island performing concerts for school children and the general public. Audiences in Wanganui, Palmerston North, Dannevirke, Waipukurau, Napier and Wairoa will experience the unique sound and sight of this 60 piece military band. The final concert in conjunction with Wairoa District Council is a free outdoor event aimed at families and the local community.
In 1937 the Central Band of the RNZAF first paraded for the Coronation of King George the 6th, then shortly after for the opening of the Wellington Railway Station. It has performed to thousands of people over the years including as a full time band during World War two when it toured Australia and the Pacific Islands. The band continues to play an important role in Wellington at State ceremonies and military services and occasions, including the formal Opening of Parliament.
PICNIC IN THE PARK will be an opportunity for the whole community to bring their picnics along and enjoy a concert which will be packed with "something for everyone". It will be a spectacular occasion with bagpipes, vocalists, brass, saxophones, woodwind and drummers. The music performed will range from classics and traditional to jazz and modern hits, from Bach to Glenn Miller! The Central Band of the RNZAF is delighted to give the people of Wairoa a free outdoor concert.
The concert will also pay a tribute to those who have served in the military. "The tradition of a military band can evoke memories and remembrances for past servicemen and women, and their families" said the Royal New Zealand Air Force's Director of Music, Squadron Leader Owen Clarke.

Latest Software Updates
NB: Before installing any new software it is always tidier and safer to uninstall your old programs using Add/Remove found in Control Panel.
New AVG Anti Virus Free Edition 2012 for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7:
The free edition of AVG 2012 has now been released. Click on the link and download from Download.com.  When asked, select "Save to", and save it to your Desktop or remember where you have saved it for later installation. Full installation instructions may be printed out from the AVG 2012 Installation Page to help you. Also print out AVG 2012 Maintenance for instructions on Updating and Scanning.
Avast 4.8 Anti Virus for Windows 98, Windows 98SE and Windows ME:
For those of you still running Windows 98 or ME, AVG no longer supports these Operating Systems. Avast does and may be downloaded from Download.com. Save it to your Desktop. Once downloaded click on the icon on your desktop to install it. When asked if you wish to do a scan on each computer start, select no. Full Instructions and registration details can be printed from the main menu.
Spybot 1.6.2:
For those of you running Spybot check your version. Version 1.6.2 is the latest and can be downloaded from Spybot.com.  Save to Desktop and run installation. I suggest you untick all boxes when asked as they are unnecessary. Once installed run Spybot as usual and dont forget to update it by selecting "Search For Updates". Full instructions are on our Menu on the left.
Ad-Aware 9.6:
For those of you running Ad-Aware you can download Version 8 from Download.com also. If you do have an older version of Ad-aware our advice here is to replace it with Spybot 1.6.2. Our "in Workshop" testing suggests Spybot executes a better thorough scan and detection of spyware, malware, adware etc. This latest free version has too many features now disabled trying to force Users into purchasing the Pro version. Uninstall Ad-aware first in Control Panel - Add/Remove, before installing Spybot.
Microsoft Windows Updates:
To manually update Microsoft products you must use Microsoft Internet Explorer. It is important to download and install all Security Upgrades and Patches on a regular bases. Most of you will have 'Automatic Updates' turned on and hence Windows will do this for you. But it does no harm checking from time to time. I advise against updating any of the Drivers offered and also any Microsoft Office Updates. We have seen too many computers come through our workshop from these updates totally paralysed :) You may check for updates at the Microsoft Update Centre.  Instructions to assist here are on the bottom of the menu Windows Updates.
Updated Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.6:
Malwarebytes is an excellent piece of software which removes malware and spyware. Use in conjunction with AVG and Spybot. Malwarebytes may be downloaded from Download.com. Save it to your Desktop. Once downloaded click on the icon on your desktop to install it. Full Instructions can be printed from the main menu.
Windows Defender 1.1:
Microsoft's Windows Defender is included with all versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, download is free from Microsoft or from  Download Com.   Windows Defender is software that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software by detecting and removing known spyware from your computer.
Although Defender is already installed on Vista and Windows 7, we feel Malwarebytes is the better of the two and hence advise installing this as well.
